What drives the price
- Number of pages. Each service deserves its own page, because people search for each one in different words. More pages mean more work, but also more searches you can show up in.
- Who writes the texts. Texts written for search take time. If you write them yourself the price drops, but often so does your place on Google.
- Template or custom design. A template is cheaper and faster. A custom design sets you apart from competitors who use the same template.
- Features. Online booking, a shop, payments or more languages add work and testing.
- SEO. Speed, structure, titles and local business markup should be built in from the start. Added later, they cost more.
- Care after launch. Hosting, updates and changes are a monthly cost that's worth knowing about up front.
Do it yourself, freelancer or agency
There's no single right choice. Here's what to be clear about:
- A website builder with a template: the cheapest start, but you do the work and you're responsible for SEO. It suits you if you have time and only need a simple page.
- A freelancer: prices and quality vary a lot. Ask exactly what's included and who will look after the site a year from now.
- An agency: a clear process and more services in one place, usually at a higher price. Check whether SEO is part of the build or sold separately.
Costs worth knowing about
- The domain is paid every year.
- Hosting is monthly or yearly. With us it's part of monthly care.
- Changes to the site: new photos, prices and services.
- Photos and texts, if you don't have your own.
- SEO after launch. The site goes live once, but your competitors don't stop.
7 questions to ask before you pay
- Whose name will the domain be in? It should be yours.
- How many pages are included in the price?
- Who writes the texts, and can I approve them?
- What exactly does the SEO include? Ask for a concrete list.
- How fast does the site load on a phone? Ask for an example you can open yourself.
- Who looks after the site after launch, and what does that cost per month?
- What happens if I change companies? The site and all access should stay yours.
